Seth Meyers roasts his own comedy writers with a ‘surprise inspection’ of their jokes

Seth Meyers knows how to keep her writers on their guard.

“They write hundreds of jokes every day just to get the 10 or 12 that we use in the monologue, and honestly, many of these jokes are simply not good,” explains Meyers in the Late at night clip. “Sometimes I think they throw a few stretches on purpose just to fill the page.”

Cue a “surprise inspection” in which Meyers reads the jokes of various writers who were too bad, offensive or absurd to make the cup, with a real name and a shame of the writer in question. Most of them cause groans or the silence of the public, but there is a jewel in an alpaca which should certainly have to make the main monologue.
