Debris and sheet metal panels fell from the roof of a Con Edison facility Saturday afternoon amid high winds in the arctic cold currently gripping the city, the FDNY said.

First responders rushed to the scene where debris fell from the structure around 3:50 p.m. near 12th Avenue and West 58th Street in Hell’s Kitchen.

New York City police closed the street for about an hour while Con Edison and city Department of Buildings officials assessed the incident.

The site is home to Con Edison’s famous 59th Street Steam Station, which provides steam for hot water, heating and cooling to more than 1,500 Manhattan buildings.

No one was injured during the incident.

The FDNY believes the fallen debris was caused by high winds as temperatures in the Big Apple plunged near zero degrees with winds of 20 mph to 25 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph Saturday.
