Shin Yamada: Celtic sign Japan forward from Kawasaki Frontale

Cappé for the first time this year, Yamada told goodbye to Kawasaki fans after the defeat of the Emperor Cup from Wednesday at home against SC Sagamihara.

He left his former sixth seated club in the J-League after 23 games, having scored twice during his 21 outings.

The 5 -foot and 8 inch striker scored 19 goals in 38 championship games in the previous campaign and told Celtictv that the Scottish champions had made their initial approach at the end of 2024.

Yamada follows her attackers’ colleagues Benjamin Nygren and Callum Osmand, defenders Hayato Inamura and Kieran Tierney and goalkeeper Ross Doohan to join the Scottish champions this summer.

“Celtic is one of the best names in world football,” he said. “I have already looked at my compatriots Daizen [Maeda]Reo [Hatate] and kyogo [Furuhashi] Do so well at Celtic and I will aim to have the same impact.

“I am my own player, however, and I am ready to take all my own challenges directly.”
