Open-back headphones are having a moment at CES 2026. First there was a batch of releases from JBL, then the dual-shaped open-back headphones from Anker Soundcore. Shokz, one of the biggest players in the open earphone space, is no exception, offering a new version aimed at improving the open earphone listening experience.

Meet: the Shokz OpenFit Pro. The headphones are the first from Shokz to feature open-ear noise reduction, which reduces the volume of the surroundings so users can hear sound with more clarity. As of January 6, they are available for pre-order in two colorways – black and white – on the Shokz website and at Best Buy for $249.95. According to Shokz, they will be available for purchase on Amazon starting in March.

Now that CES 2026 has started, brands like Shokz are revealing a ton of new products, so head over to the Mashable CES 2026 hub for the latest news.

Shokz OpenFit Pro noise reduction technology

The headline news of OpenFit Pro is an improved listening experience. It starts with Open-Ear Noise Reduction technology, which dampens external noise for a better listening experience. The feature must be activated manually via the on-ear controls or via the app, and can be adjusted in levels from the app. At its default setting of 50% power, Shokz estimates it reduces noise by about 12 to 16 dB, about the same as a pair of Loop Engage 2 earplugs.

This feature is designed to give users more flexibility in the environments they can use their headphones in, whether it’s a gym, an office, or a noisy cafe. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the same as noise cancellation, which aims to quiet the world around you. The OpenFit Pros are designed to maintain situational awareness, provided by open-back headphones, while using a quieter environment to help the music sound clearer to the listener.

In addition to noise reduction, these Shokz headphones are also optimized for Dolby Atmos to deliver a spatial audio listening experience and feature two drivers per ear (compared to one on other Shokz models) for improved audio quality.
