Simone Biles and Riley Gaines’ Dispute Explained

Simone Biles and Riley Gaines were involved in an online public quarrel, growing tensions and biles now seemed to have deleted her account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Nowsweek contacted a representative of biles by e-mail and sheaths via an online contact form, outside regular working hours to comment.

Why it matters

Biles is the most decorated gymnast in history. The 28 -year -old won his first title in 2013 and 2015, had become the first woman to win three consecutive titles worldwide. To date, Biles has 11 Olympic medals, including seven.

Gaines, 25 is a former swimmer from the University of Kentucky and Outkick host Gaines for girls podcast. She is an eminent conservative activist and is known to be a defender against trans women in sport.

What to know

The drama, which became viral online, started on June 6 when Gaines republished a photo on X, formerly twitter of the Minnesota State High School League account.

The message said: “Meet Champlin Park, the champion of the class of class AAAA for 2025 … Comments lol. To expect your star player is a boy.”

Several points of sale reported that the transgender athlete Marissa Rothenberger is a team launcher.

Biles then responded to the message of sheaths on X, the appellant “really sick” and a “painful loser”. She added: “You should raise the trans community and perhaps find a way to make sport inclusive or create a new avenue where trans people feel safe in sport. Perhaps a transgender category in all sports !! but rather … you intimidate them … One thing is certain that no one is in sport is safe with you !!!!!”

In his article, Biles wrote “this whole campaign because you lost a race”, which refers to the sheath race in 2022 with the athlete of the University of Pennsylvania, Lia Thomas, a trans woman. They equaled in fifth place in a 200 -yard race, and Gaines then testified at the Congress on equity in female sports.

In a separate article, Biles said: “intimidate someone with your own size, which would be ironically a male @riley_gaines_.”

Gaines shared a series of messages in response to this. She wrote on X: “It is actually so disappointing. It is not my work or the work of a woman to understand how to include men in our spaces. You can raise men who steal championships in female sports with your platform. Men do not belong to female sports and I say that with my complete chest.”

Gaines followed later, responding to the comment of biles on his body, writing: “and the subtle indication of” shaming “???? Plzzzz i’m 5’5”. “”

In another article, Gaines wrote: “All the horrible sexual abuse @simone_biles have witnessed and spoke against a single man, but believes that women should be forced to undress naked in front of men to validate man’s feelings. You know how many gold medals you would have if your” inclusive “dream came? Zero”.

Biles was one of the hundreds of women who manifested themselves who said that they had been sexually abused by the former American Olympic gymnastics team Larry Nasar, who used their position to sexually asshole young athletes in what is the greatest sexual abuse scandal in the history of sport.

Nasar was arrested and charged in 2016 for having sexually assaulted at least 265 women, under the guise of medical treatment. He was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison in 2017, after pleading guilty of possession of juvenile pornography and falsification of evidence. He received an additional 40 to 175 years in Michigan Department of Corrections, after pleading guilty to seven chiefs of sexual assault. He was again sentenced in February 2018 to 40 to 125 years of age in February 2018 in the Michigan State prison, after pleading guilty to three other chiefs of sexual assault.

Biles previously said that abuses were “traumatized”.

Gaines was criticized for his article as commenting on Biles experience, some social media users describing it as “vile” and “amazing”, although other social media users have continued to support it.

Biles apologized later for his remarks on Gaines and wrote: “It did not help me become personal with Riley, which I apologize.”

“These are sensitive and complicated problems to which I really do not have the answers or the solutions, but I believe that it starts with empathy and respect.”

Gaines accepted apologies for biles, for “personal attacks, including those where it ashamed”.

Biles now seems to have deleted his account on X after the fallout.

The online reaction has been mixed, the sheaths and biles being rented and criticized by different social media users who are sitting alongside the political spectrum.
