Bojack rider is an exploration of many things, including depression, dependence, fame and families, and sometimes it becomes very heavy. Bojack himself is an atypical protagonist because he is not naturally sympathetic – in fact, he makes horrible decisions – but in the end, he tries to improve. Part of what makes the spectacle so large is that it balances this dark tone with a lot of humor in its dialogue and its visuals.
