SNL American Girl Doll sketch gets uncomfortable, fast

Saturday evening live debuted a new commercial sketch this week, featuring host Nikki Glaser promoting life-size American Girl dolls.
The principle is simple: as women age, their American Girl Dolls stay the same. So the proposed solution is the same doll, just bigger. It’s a clever concept, except for the fact that the men in the sketch have very different ideas about what to do with a six-foot Molly or Samantha that don’t exactly involve tea parties or pageants.
While the idea of what a man would do with an adult-sized American Girl doll immediately raises red flags, you can see where the sketch is going. That’s what makes it both 1) funny and 2) a little alarming in that it accurately captures how likely some men are to dress their American Girl XL in a crop top.
