So-Called ‘Moderate’ Gov. Spanberger’s Far-Left Goals Exposed

Although she campaigned as a moderate, Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger sparked a wave of leftism in her state by repealing former Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s policies, obstructing immigration enforcement, and injecting affirmative action into government hiring processes.
On her first day in office, the former MP signed a batch of 10 decrees covering a series of progressive objectives emphasizing diversity.
Executive Order 4on the quality of public education, explicitly mentions the establishment of policies and regulations aimed at “preventing discrimination for all students, including historically marginalized students.”
Spanberger famously offered a “word salad” response when asked whether transgender-identified men were allowed to use girls’ school bathrooms and play sports on the campaign trail: refusing to directly answer the question.
EO 4 also required efforts to “address factors contributing to achievement disparities” in the education system, with a focus on eliminating “discriminatory policies, resource inequalities, and opportunity gaps, as well as other factors.”
Spanberger’s EO 9, an “equal opportunity” directive, directs state agencies to take “affirmative steps…to emphasize the recruitment of qualified minorities, women, persons with disabilities, and older Virginians to serve at all levels of state government.”
The text of the order states that the policy “specifically prohibits discrimination” on the basis of “gender identity or expression.”
The new governor, who New York Times calls a “centrist” and “moderate”, also overturned Youngkin’s EO 47, which substituted state law enforcement agencies to assist the Trump administration with federal immigration enforcement.
“Dangerous illegal immigrants should not be allowed back into our communities to be assaulted, raped and murdered,” the Republican governor said when announcing the mandate last year. “They should be sent back to where they came from.”
Spanberger got rid of that, write this “The Commonwealth should prioritize the safety and security of all Virginia residents.”
This month she published another EO stating that Virginia “does not engage in fear-based policing” or “enforcement theater” and should focus on upholding state law rather than “administrative civil enforcement.”
In another February move, Spanberger sign the pro-abortion “Right to Reproductive Freedom Act” on the November ballot.
She also approved several tax increases for Virginians early in her term, including join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) and the creation of a statewide paid family and medical leave program that increases child care subsidies.
“And yes, Virginia, finally raise our minimum wage to $15 an hour,” she added in her first joint. address in the State Assembly.
Since he was selected by his Democratic colleagues to present the party’s response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address next Tuesday, Spanberger drew some chuckles from conservatives on social media.
Former Breitbart News editor Joel Pollak joked that it may have been Trump himself who chose Spanberger to give an answer:
“Did Trump get to choose which Democrat will give the answer to the State of the Union? Abigail Spanberger is Trump’s Exhibit A in showing what happens when you elect a ‘moderate’ Democrat,” he wrote. “She raises every tax possible and truncates her state 10 to 1.”
“I wonder if she’ll talk about the 50 new taxes she and her fellow Democrats want to soak Virginia taxpayers with,” mused radio personality Bo Snerdley:
