The simple request made by the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) last August was filed in November and now, in January, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has rejected the idea.
ODA requested that FSIS remove or revise 9 CFR 318.1(h)(2) to allow federal establishments to incorporate state-inspected meat into products bearing the USDA mark of inspection.
