Sony Adds Silent Hill 2 and Until Dawn to PlayStation Plus in Time for Halloween

The fog is settling in on PlayStation Plus this Halloween, as Sony brings some seriously spooky games to the service’s game catalog on October 21.

Subscribers can experience the psychological horror of 2024’s Silent Hill 2 remake or immerse themselves in the middle of slasher horror in Until Dawn. If you’re not a fan of scary games, Sony is also adding other titles to the service that you might like.

PlayStation Plus is similar to Xbox Game Pass, offering subscribers a vast and ever-expanding library of games. There are three PlayStation Plus tiers: Essential ($10 per month), Extra ($15 per month) and Premium ($18 per month) — each giving subscribers access to games. However, only Extra and Premium tier subscribers can access the PlayStation Plus game catalog, a collection of hundreds of games that subscribers can access whenever they want.

Silent Hill 2

CNET’s sister site IGN called the Silent Hill 2 remake a “miserable experience,” but they meant it in a good way. It’s a horror game after all, so being unhappy and uncomfortable is kind of the point, and this game reflects that feeling on the (pyramid) head.

You play as James Sunderland, who arrives in the community of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his wife. The only problem is that his wife died three years earlier. You will escape and fight monsters, discover secrets and struggle with your past in this horror game.

Until dawn

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: a group of teenagers find themselves in a remote location being chased by something in the woods. It’s a classic horror trope, and it’s the premise of Until Dawn.

A group of friends stay in a mountain refuge where two of their friends disappeared a year earlier. You wouldn’t catch me returning to a site like that, no sir. As you explore the mountain, you’ll uncover clues about what happened while you were being chased by a dangerous and deadly masked man. Your choices throughout the game can influence who dies and who survives this grisly night.
