Source: Cards RB Trey Benson to miss 4-6 weeks after surgery

Temple, Arizona – Arizona Cardinals flowing, Trey Benson, underwent arthroscopic surgery on its meniscus and is expected to be sidelined by four to six weeks, a source said to Adam Schefter of ESPN on Wednesday.
The cardinals placed Benson in the injured reserve on Wednesday, coach Jonathan Gannon told journalists that Benson should come back this season. A source also told ESPN that Benson would again play “for sure” this season.
Benson must miss at least four games in the injured reserve. Cardinals have three games until their week off, returning to week 10 at the earliest.
Gannon said he was not sure when exactly Benson had been injured in Thursday’s defeat against Seattle’s Seahawks, but that he thought that the ball carrier had played by the injury for part of the competition. Benson’s knee was painful when he came for his treatment after the day on Friday, and it was then that the cardinals’ medical team examined him more and more.
Benson had assumed the starting role in week 4 after James Conner suffered an injury at the end of the season the previous week against the 49ers of San Francisco. Benson rushed to 35 yards in eight races and succeeded in five threesome against the Seahawks.
The next step on the depth board of Arizona is Emari Demermado, but Gannon will not be committed to being the main bearer of the team. The coach said that he expects Demermercado, Michael Carter and Bam Knight all playing on Sunday from Tennessee. These three combined for five races for cardinals this season.
“I don’t know,” said Gannon. “We will see how the week takes place, but we obviously know that we were able to take this role, but we felt good about Bam and Emari and Mike Carter.”
Benson was the main rusher of cardinals with 160 yards in 29 races for an average of 5.5 yards per race. He had not marked a touch.
The Arizona also signed the Ball bearer Jermar Jefferson to their training team on Wednesday.
