Sources – Packers, RT Zach Tom reach 4-year, $88M extension

Green Bay, Wisconsin, a month ago, Zach Tom did not want to argue if he would insist on a new contract with the Green Bay packers before the start of this season. He no longer has to entertain this possibility.
The fourth year right tackle agreed with an extension of a contract of $ 88 million over four years on Monday, sources said in ESPN. The agreement also includes a signing bonus of $ 30.2 million which would be the most important for an offensive line player.
The Laremy Tunsil and the former Packers of Washington Commanders approach David Bakhtiari (in 2020) received the highest signature bonus for an offensive line at 30 million dollars in extensions.
The negotiations ended one day before the veterans of packers had to go to the training camp. Tom participated in the off -season training program rather than choosing to wait for a new agreement to be made.
“I don’t really think it will do me good to sit down,” said Tom last month. “I try not to worry about the situation of the contract. I just try to do what is best for the team. And being here with the guys, I think it is much more than – the situation of the contract will take care of itself. So, I am just here to work and to cring out with the guys. If I was not here, I would probably be somewhere.
Packers are going through a little mixture on the offensive line, and there was a possibility that Tom could be moved. But this agreement guarantees that it will remain in the tackle.
Last season, Tom finished third in the All-Pro vote among the plated on the right behind Lane Johnson of the Strait Lions.
“I think he can play any job,” said Packers coach Matt Lafleur last month. “So it just happened that he found his house in a right tackle, but I think that his versatility is one of the things that makes him special. I think he can play every five, and there are not many guys who can do it, but I would say he had athletics. I think he is a very intelligent football player, and he has played quite consistent in recent years.”
Tom, a choice of fourth round in 2022, started each match in each of the last two seasons and 39 departures in total during his first three seasons. He started 34 games in the right tackle, four in the left tackle and one at the left guard.
There should be a competition for the left tackle between Rasheed Walker outgoing and the choice of first round in 2024 Jordan Morgan.
Among the modifications of the offensive line, there are Elgton Jenkins from the left guard in the center to make room for the signing of a free agent Aaron Banks to play the left guard. Jenkins, who has been registered on the list of non-football injuries, jumped most of the off-season program because he wants his contract to be adjusted even if he is still two years old.
