Southwest Airlines flights grounded due to equipment issues

Hundreds of Southwest Airlines flights were delayed after the technical problems that prompted the airline to temporarily stop operations on Tuesday morning.
Southwest said the flight delays were the result of “data connection problems resulting from a firewall failure”, a problem that led to a brief stopover.
Federal Aviation Administration initiated the ground stopping at the request of the airlineQuoting “equipment problems”. The ground stopping was quickly lifted and in a Tweet at 11:35 a.m. and southwest He had resumed operations.
“Early this morning, a firewall provided by the supplier took place and the link with certain operational data was lost unexpectedly,” said spokesman Dan Landson in a statement.
Southwest had delayed 1,820 flights or 43% of its schedule just afternoon on Tuesday, according to Flightaware. The airline only canceled nine flights on Tuesday, according to Flightaware. Southwest says his workers “worked quickly to minimize disturbances”.
Southwest reported technological problems on Tuesday morning and said he “, hopefully, would resume our operation as soon as possible.”
The FAA in a statement told CNN that the Southwest “asked the FAA a break from the airline departures”.
Problems come from months after the airline was forced to cancel more than 16,700 flights between December 20 and 29, about half of its schedule during this period. The airline has attributed the collapse in part to the changes to its staff planning computer systems. Southwest last month unveiled an “action plan” to prevent another operational collapse.
Southwest called the latest problem “intermittent technology problems” in a publication on social networks to customers. Several went to social networks to complain about delayed flights.
“We apologize for any drawback that it can cause, but we hope that everyone goes as soon as possible,” wrote the airline in another article on social networks.
A massive winter storm began service problems during the holiday season, but Southwest had a lot more difficult to recover due to an archaic crew planning system which was quickly exceeded, leaving the airline unable to obtain endowment in places to exploit flights. Almost half of his schedule was canceled from December 20 to December 29. Some days, up to 75% of its planned flights were put to the ground.
Part of what created worse problems in the southwest that in other airlines is that crew members had to call the airline, rather than notify it electronically, to leave them availability.
