3 men who went missing while fishing and swimming in Mississippi River found dead
Memphis, tenn. – Three men who were missing during fishing and swimming on a sandbank in the Mississippi river were found dead near Memphis, Tennessee, the authorities announced on Wednesday.
Research and rescue teams with the Sheriff’s Sheriff’s Bureau of Shelby and other agencies in the Memphis region began to look for men on Tuesday evening after being missing near a boat ramp at the MEEMAN-SHELBY Forest Park, the authorities announced.
Research, which included planes, rescue boats and the use of Sonar, was suspended Tuesday evening because of the dark. He resumed on Wednesday morning, said the sheriff’s office.
The first two bodies were recovered around 11 a.m. and the third around 12:45 p.m., said the sheriff’s office. A cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
The three men were described as Hispanic, aged from the age of twenty to fifties, said the county fire service.
Managers say that the region has become more and more popular for leisure at the Shelby Forest State Park, located north of Memphis. But the river is treacherous, with several dangers present, including strong currents, submerged objects, branches and debris.
