Sparks announce plans to build new practice facility in El Segundo
The Sparks announced that they were joining the boom to upgrade the WNBA facilities, creating a training and practice center of $ 150 million and 55,000 square feet in El Segundo which should open its doors before the 2027 season.
The place will include two basketball courts of WNBA regulations as well as a wardrobe, a weight room and a sports training area. The team declares that the installation will also include an outdoor spa, inner hydrotherapy suites, dedicated nap rooms, wellness spaces for yoga or mediation, and in-depth use of natural light and retractable doors.
“We are building a place where Sparks players can be their best on and off the field,” said Eric Holoman, director and governor of Sparks. “From advanced training and recovery spaces to family and community areas, all the corners of this installation have been designed with them at the center.”
The installation will be located on Rosecrans avenue, just east of North Sepulveda Boulevard, in El Segundo, where Lakers, Kings and Chargers have built practice facilities.
The Sparks, who displayed a file of 21-23 and won two victories in less to win a place in the playoffs this season, approach one of the greatest complaints concerning the engagement of the franchise towards the development of players. The team recently trained at El Camino College, where they had neither a cloakroom nor permanent weight room. The franchise has rented various places of training throughout its history, making the new building a spectacular upgrade of the team.
