Our Favorite Premium TV Is $500 Off

On the hunt for premium TV, with all the bells and whistles? This excellent OLED TV scored top marks in everything from brightness to color, and is a great choice for anyone looking for the perfect addition to their living room or home theater.

LG has made various improvements to this generation of panels, and it really shows in the numbers. It’s one of the brightest displays we’ve tested, with only one major competitor, the Sony Bravia 9 QLED, beating it in terms of raw brightness. That means top-notch HDR performance, without some of the compromises you usually make to get QLED displays to achieve that brightness.

Colors are also excellent, bringing to life the deep greens and blues that some TVs can struggle with. They do just as well for grabbing the clothes of your favorite sitcom stars as they do for expressing the explosions and crashes of action movies. The processing and scaling are also top-notch, in case all your media doesn’t come from the best source.

Combine this high brightness with rich, vibrant colors, and the result is a stunning TV in all movie genres. As our critic Ryan Waniata said when describing the storm at the beginning of Mad Max: Fury Road, “Every flash and fiery crash burned with a white-hot crackle, almost overwhelming my senses, even when observing in daylight.”

The only real problem here is the streaming interface, an improved version of LG’s WebOS, which doesn’t quite hold up to the simplicity and performance of other options like Google TV. The remote is also slightly confusing, as it lacks some basic functions like a mute key or an enter key, both of which require other key combinations. The good news here is that if it really bothers you, you can always upgrade to a dedicated streaming box.
