Researchers at Nagoya University in Japan have performed the most detailed simulation of star interiors and disproved a theory scientists have believed for 45 years: that stars change their rotation patterns as they age, with the poles rotating faster than the equator in older stars. Scientists have now discovered that this change may not occur. Stars maintain a solar-like rotation, rotating rapidly at the equator and slowly at the poles throughout their lives. The results are published in Nature Astronomy.
