State Department Issues ‘Worldwide Caution’ Security Alert – RedState

The State Department is warning Americans around the world to monitor their surroundings. In a rare Sunday alert, officials issued a “global caution” advisory following U.S. operations in Iran, citing growing tensions and the risk of travel disruptions in several regions.
March 22, 2026 – The State Department advises Americans around the world to exercise increased caution.
Location: Global
Event: The State Department is advising Americans around the world, and particularly in the Middle East, to exercise increased caution. Americans abroad should follow security alert guidelines issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Periodic airspace closures may cause travel disruptions. American diplomatic facilities, particularly outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Pro-Iran groups may target other U.S. interests abroad or locations associated with the United States and/or Americans around the world.

The alert comes as Operation Epic Fury continues, and on the heels of President Trump’s ultimatum to Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz:
If Iran does not COMPLETELY, WITHOUT THREAT, open the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this very moment, the United States of America will strike and wipe out their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE LARGEST FIRST! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

It also comes as the Department of Homeland Security remains unfunded, and the U.S. Senate is deadlocked on the issue, despite the strain it causes on the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and thousands of American travelers.
Although travel advisories are not uncommon for the State Department, they are typically issued by country or region. On the other hand, global warnings such as the one issued on Sunday are rare, the most recent having been issued last June following Operation Midnight Hammer.
The State Department issues a global warning when there is a significantly elevated risk to U.S. citizens abroad. The last two times the United States issued global warnings were in October 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel, and in August 2022, after a U.S. drone strike killed al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in Afghanistan. In contrast, the State Department offers much more country-specific travel advisories, with a tiered risk assessment ranging from Level 1 to Level 4, which addresses chronic or long-term threats. A third type of notification – a security alert – is issued by the U.S. embassy or consulate to provide real-time information about safety and security in situations that may be temporary in nature.
As noted, the advisory is not a travel ban, but a warning that the risk to U.S. citizens abroad is high. This is a developing story.
Editor’s Note: For decades, former presidents did nothing but talk. Now, Donald Trump eliminates the Iranian threat once and for all.
