Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers ‘pretty sure’ this will be final season

The Pittsburgh steelers quarterrier, Aaron Rodgers, is “almost sure” that the 2025 season will be his last NFL season.
In an interview with “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, Rodgers said that he was probably concluding a career that lasted more than two decades with a last year in Pittsburgh.
“Yeah, I’m almost sure that’s it,” said Rodgers, who spent the first 18 years of his career in Green Bay, where he was quadruple MVP of the NFL. “This is why we have just agreed for a year. The Steelers did not need to take additional years on this subject or anything, so it was really to finish with a lot of love and pleasure and peace for the career I had.
“I have played 20 years to do. It was long term. I appreciated it, and not a better place to finish than in one of the Cornerstone franchises of the NFL with Mike Tomlin and a large group of leadership and big guys from the city that expects you to win.”
Rodgers, 41, is the leader of the Packers franchise in Touché passes (475), the percentage of completion (65.3) and the smuggling rating (103.6) and ranks second behind Brett Favre during pass (59,055) and completions (5 001).
After a prolonged decision-making process where he thought about retirement, Rodgers signed a one-year contract of $ 13.65 million just before running at Minicamp compulsory this month. Rodgers chose to sign with the Steelers after being released by the New York Jets after a two -year tumultuous passage. He torn his Achilles just a handful of shots in the 2023 season, then went 5-12 and missed the playoffs in 2024.
The jets will welcome the steelers in a force test of week 1 on September 7. Rodgers will face Green Bay for the first time this season in week 8 on “Sunday Night Football”.
Rodgers’ decision to play one more year, however, was not dictated by the desire to go out with a better end, he said on Tuesday.
“It’s not really ‘[I] I can’t go out like that ‘, he said. “I love the game, and there was a great relationship. It was my first love when I was 6 years old, dreaming of playing quarter-rear and being in the Super Bowl and winning in the Super Bowl. … I wanted to be there for Minicamp once I decided that I was going to be all, but I didn’t need it. Puce on my shoulder.
“I will give the Steelers everything I obtained and empty the tank and be super comfortable and satisfied with everything that is happening.”
For Rodgers, the draw to play Pittsburgh started with Tomlin. Rodgers said the two had spoken each week when he decided on his future, and the patience and respect for Tomlin for the Rodgers process attached him to the coach. Rodgers said he also attended a barbecue at Tomlin on weekends after signing his contract.
“I had so many other things in my life that took my mind and my energy elsewhere and that is why I appreciated the way Mike was all the time,” said Rodgers. “The simple fact of being able to have these conversations, honest conversations every week was really significant for me, and the way I was welcomed was really cool.”
Rodgers said that he “felt good” in 2024 and that his Achilles left “were incredible”. McAfee also said that Rodgers was integrating into Tuesday’s interview between his two daily training sessions, and Rodgers added that some of his teammates planned to go to Malibu, California, for a training session next week.
In addition to talking about the coming season, Rodgers expressed his frustration about the public’s interest in his private life. He revealed during Minicamp that he wore an alliance and that he had married a few months earlier. He did not disclose the identity of his wife and stressed McAfee that he wanted to keep his private life out of the public’s eyes.
“It’s a sick society,” he said. “I lived in the public’s eyes for 20 years. I had a public relationship. How did it go? … Now, I am with someone who is private, who does not want to be in the eyes of the public, I have not registered to be a celebrity, does not want to be part of it.
“My private life is my private life, and it will stay like this. And I am with someone who wants to be private and if and when she wants to be outside and there is a photo, she will choose this, and she deserves the right to this.”
