The Pittsburgh steelers experienced an unfortunate situation leading to the first NFL match in Ireland. Skylar Thompson suffered minor injuries after attackers jumped and stole the rescue quarter on Friday evening in Dublin. Thompson, who is in injured reserve, is OK and back with the team before Sunday’s match against the Vikings of Minnesota.

“We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson Friday evening in Dublin,” said Burt Lauten, director of communications of the Steelers, in a statement, via the NFL Media. “We will no longer have comments at the moment because we are working with the safety of the NFL to collect more information concerning the incident.”

Pittsburgh remains settled with Aaron Rodgers for the start and Mason Rudolph to support him against Minnesota.

“We are aware of the incident involving Skylar Thompson in Ireland and are relieved to know that it is fine,” the NFLPA said in a statement. “The NFLPA actively brings together more information and works to understand the complete circumstances surrounding what happened. As always, our priority is the health and safety of the members of our players – especially since we continue to work on players’ protections and well -being while playing international games – and we will continue to support Skylar in any way it needs.”

Thompson, 28, is in the middle of his first season with the Steelers. Former choice of seventh round, Thompson started three games as a recruit which included an eliminatory match as a member of the Miami dolphins. He made another departure last season in what was his last season with the Dolphins.

Thompson transformed a solid performance of a training camp to a list of 53 men for the Steelers. Pittsburgh placed it in the injured reserve in September after having injured his hamstrings in practice. Pittsburgh flew to Ireland after training on Thursday. The plan was that the team was sleeping by plane in Ireland before staying awake the day on Friday to adapt to the change of time.

The Steelers stayed in Carton House, a five -star seaside resort about 40 minutes from Dublin and 45 minutes from Croke Park, the Sunday match site against the Vikings.
