Steve Millar’s 3 takeaways from Week 6 football in Southland

Week 6 of the high school football season was monumental. The greatest force test of the year was up to the media threw while Mount Carmel fought brother Rice for a victory of 27-14.
Oak Lawn went to 6-0 for the first time in the history of the program and set up a confrontation. The crosstown game with Richards (5-1) will be the most excited version of this rivalry of all time.
And the story was made in Frankfort. This is where we will start with my take -away meals of week 6.
The most productive high school quarter in the history of Illinois
I will never forget the first time I saw the recruit of the USC Jonas Williams playing football.
By coincidence, it was in Lincoln-Way East. But Williams was playing for the outside team that evening in 2022. He was a first-year student leading Bolingbrook in Frankfort to face loaded griffins.
It was week 5 and Williams had already generated a lot of buzz. But go. Admittedly, the powerful defense East Lincoln-Way would teach this first year some lessons and would calm media threw.
In 13 other games this season, the griffins have granted an average of 10 points. They went 13-1 and finished as a state finalist. Even during the defeat of the class 8a championship against Loyola, the defense dominated in a 13-3 defeat.
But that night? The first year pruned them. He launched 402 yards and five affected in a defeat of 42-32.
Although I spent most of this night worrying that Jonas was going to ruin my story – I only covered Lincoln -Way East and that no one was going to be in a talkative mood after a loss – I was finished with performance.

He was never so obvious as a player was going to be special.
And Williams has certainly been.
Friday evening, Williams broke the record of Illinois High School Association for the PDCs in career. He launched four to spend his total career at 131.
Following? Williams continues the career yardage record, which Logan Malachuk of Nazareth broke last year. Malachuk finished with 11,190 yards. Williams is now at 10,491.
Williams has also been impressive since his throws. When I spoke to Jonas in the second year while Bolingbrook fought for a difficult season, it was clear that he was already a ready leader.
After being transferred to Lincoln-Way East, Williams was under a brighter projector and continued to prosper.
As large as records are, I know that the only thing Williams really wants to be a state of state.
I would not bet against him this year.

Oak Lawn, Oh my God!
It will certainly be a funny scene on Friday evening in Oak Lawn.
Spartans play Crosstown Rival Richards every season and, honestly, the only question for most of the last two decades has been whether the Bulldogs would turn on the race clock.
The answer was yes last year, when Richards won 68-12. Oak Lawn has organized good fights in other years, but has not been beating the Bulldogs since 2008.
This season, however, for the first time for a long time, this game is not beyond the local aspect of rivalry.

Spartans are one of the best stories in the state. Before the season on a sequence of 17 consecutive defeats, they are 6-0 for the first time in the history of the program.
Oak Lawn had some brilliant runners, including Alex Soto Senior, Jayden Schlosser Junior and Sophomore Kamari Polk.
The Senior Narrière Noah Escobedo stood out for Richards, while the Senior Balloon / Receiver / Receiver Ahmad Buchanan is a double-way star.
The Bulldogs, who have played a more difficult calendar, are certainly the favorites here. But Spartans have confidence in this game for the first time in ages.

The biggest revealing score
Providence 28, Marist 14.
The Celtics missed disappointing the playoffs last season at 4-5. This does not happen this year.
Providence (4-2) took care of a desperate Marist team. The young Celtics click on the attack behind the second-year quarter of the second year Dominic Vita and the student carrier duo of the second year Brayden McKay and Junior Brodden Mackert. The defense was good all season.
This victory does not only cement the Celtics in the eliminatory team. In my mind, it shows that they can undoubtedly be a competitor in class 5A.
