A report `Make America Healthy Again ” easily goes to the food industry

Critics of the food industry have become silent in a second report of the White House on the improvement of childhood health – where they were replaced by a long list of research issues on the problem and calls to deregulate small farms. Largely expected since the May publication of an initial report “Make America Healthy Inderst” (Maha) on the subject, the White House revisions had delayed the new version.

Released on September 9, this report “Make Our Children Healthy Again Strategy” comes from a commission led by the Secretary of the United States Ministry of Health and Social Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and included managers of the White House and other agency leaders. He cites poor diet, chemicals, inactivity and “over -mediation” to explain a drop in health of American children.

“We are the most sick country in the world,” said RFK, Jr., when the report was published, held at the HHS headquarters. During the event, he described the report’s recommendations, 128 in all: “The things I dreamed of all my life.”

In its introduction, the 20 -page “strategy report” indicates that it “describes a strategic approach for executive actions to combat the child’s chronic disease crisis by progressing research, by increasing incentives, increasing public awareness and promoting the collaborations of the private sector.”

Initially, the report offers a litany of 23 suggested research programs, ranging from studies on the effects of electromagnetic radiation and the use of artificial intelligence to detect cancer in young people to a research program on vaccination injuries. It also includes a list of some 35 policy changes, ranging from the development of “Maha boxes” of food for participants in the additional nutritional aid program (SNAP) to improve “regulatory processes” for the over -the -counter solar, all described in a few sentences. He then calls the deregulation of whole milk sales in schools, mobile grocery stores and small farms, among other agency actions. Finally, he calls for public awareness campaigns on children’s health, better exercise and better nutrition, among other subjects.

“The report has a lot of action ideas that could really improve health but lacking details and weakness in regulatory action,” explains Marion Nestlé, nutrition expert at New York University. “His essential message is always” more necessary research “. The first MAHA report also accused the increase in the increase in American infant obesity, diabetes and autism rates – as well as other conditions – on unhealthy foods, chemicals, excessive screen time and over -mediation. He notably blamed food industries, chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing for these problems. The new report takes a different approach, describing current pesticide examination standards as “robust” and calling for a more in -depth study of “surprise trends” in medicine. Agricultural industry groups such as the American Soybean Association complained of “erroneous representations” in the Maha report. Rather than storage against “ultra-treble foods”, the new report requires the distant objective of defining them. And as indicated above, the dairy industry obtains a call for the abolition of restrictions on completely fatty milk in schools. The September report also plans to improve the process of requesting farm subsidies at school without note that, for this year, the Trump administration has canceled such subsidies and eliminated a program to provide schools with food for local farms.

“In a sense, the results have been predetermined and do not differ much from the disclosed projects,” explains Peter Lurie of the Center for Science in the Public Interest. The report is “a collection of the secretary [of HHS]Standcrafts for pets and half -cooked sciences that do not really arise in the deep causes of poor health in children. Each of the policy changes or research programs proposed in the report deserves its own year or more of meticulous analyzes, says Lurie, rather than the presentation in a bag of hastily ideas.
