Live stock market updates, Friday February 13, 2026: Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty are expected to get off to a negative start on Friday amid muted global cues.
Around 6:50 am, the GIFT Nifty was trading at 25,719.5 levels, down 131.5 points or 0.51 percent.
India’s Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation for January 2026 rose to 2.75 per cent due to rise in prices of food items and precious metals, in the first data compiled under the new CPI series. The base year of the CPI was moved from 2012 to 2024. The corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban areas stood at 2.73 percent and 2.77 percent, respectively, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics on Thursday.
Asian markets were trading lower on Friday after renewed concerns over artificial intelligence (AI) disruption in the United States dragged Wall Street benchmarks lower, with the S&P 500 posting a third straight session of losses. Last check, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 1.69 percent, South Korea’s KOSPI index fell 0.5 percent and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 index fell 1.3 percent.
U.S. stock indexes stabilized sharply lower Thursday as investors pulled out of technology stocks while evaluating a strong stream of economic data and corporate earnings reports. The S&P 500 fell 1.57 percent, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 2.03 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.34 percent.
