Stop Obsessing Over FPS—Why Good-Enough Hardware Is the Future of Gaming

Let’s face it, almost all PC players to continue the very important FPS number during the game. The better, the better, as long as the graphic parameters are also adjusted on high or ultra, right?
Yes, FPS counts in games
As PC players, we often treat the executives per second (FPS) as the only measure of the playability of a game – and we are partially right.
FPS is crucial to find out if a game feels playable or not. If the FPS is too low, then a game is simply not pleasant.
I tried to shoot a satisfactory kick on my chromebook and the menu operated at 10 to 15 IPS in the lowest possible settings. The graphics really don’t seem so bad, but the FPS made me say: “It’s not worth playing.”
So, yes, FPS counts in games. However, there are other parts of the gaming experience which are more important than hunting the FPS perfect rarely bonds in each game.
FPS is not the final measure of a gaming experience
When is the last time you sat down and looked at all the graphic settings available on a console compared to a computer? There are practically no options on most consoles, but PCs are flooded with massive lists of options.
Indeed, the two types of games focus on different considerations. PC players generally want to change each little thing so that the game “is the best possible”, while console players just want a pleasant and playable experience.

Would that surprise you to learn that many console games always take place at 60 IPS? In fact, until the latest generation of consoles with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, no game worked only 60 IPS, and many still work at 30 IPS.
However, on PC, some players would consider the blasphemy of performing a game at 30 IPS.

However, most people do not look at a console and do not say that it is a terrible experience. It may not be as high fidelity as a game system of $ 4,000, but it does not need to be.
The consoles juggle the frequency of images with graphic parameters behind the scenes to offer a solid and playable experience. The fact is that you can also do the same with your PC.
PC game simply requires that you manually balance the image frequency and graphic parameters. Unlike the consoles, you control what these parameters are, and it is entirely to you that you prioritize by playing at different games. So, instead of getting everything up, saying “it’s time for a new computer!” When the FPS falls below 120 (or even 60), learn to take advantage of moderate parameters that always offer great performance.
You can always enjoy the game at sub240fps
Some games, like Call of duty,, CS: Goor other ultra-fast titles certainly benefit from high image frequencies. However, this is really only a big advantage if your instructor has a refresh rate that can correspond to your FPS. A high image frequency does not always equivalent to a better gaming experience.

FPS vs refresh rate: what are the differences?
What makes these two important game specifications distinct from each other?
Okay, before I take out the forks, let me explain to you. I have been a PC player for almost 20 years and I have played on all kinds of systems. What I have achieved over almost two decades of games is that I want the frequency of the highest possible images, but I do not want to sacrifice the experience of playing the game.
If you have a 60 Hz (or even 120 Hz) monitor and drive a game to 120 IPS (or 240 IPS), you do not obtain any major net advantage. Your instructor only refreshes so many times per second, after all. Conversely, having a monitor with a cooling rate higher than that of the FPS that your PC can push offers few advantages.
However, although pushing crazy frames per second does not provide many advantages, having a frequency of ultra-basic images is not good either.
I had the privilege of being at CES 2023 when the GPUs of the NVIDIA series 30 were presented with the generation of first generation frame. DLSS 3 was relatively new on the stage, and that reshaped the way I had to think of computer equipment.
I am not a fan of the new multi-trames generation that occurs on the maps of the RTX 50 series, but the generation of frame of the RTX 30 series has literally revolutionary. Nvidia showed me a demo The Witcher 3 operating on low -end equipment that was completely playable.

60 IPS is no longer enough, so I turn to the framework generation
60 IPS, it’s great… if you live in 2010.
Without generation of frame, the game worked on the system at around 10 to 15 IPS. However, with the framework generation, he turned around 35 IPS when he walked, with peaks up to 40 IPS.
It made the game playable on a computer that it would not have been otherwise. And, get this: it was not at 240 IPS, 144 IPS or even 60 IPS. It was a low -level equipment that chose the experience rather than the image frequency, and it was well for the sacrifice to enjoy the game.
Yes, you can (and should) take advantage of the game even if you do not define recordings for the FPS to which your system can play a game.
Refuse certain graphics parameters to increase your FPS in the game
I spent several years on low -end graphics cards, and that taught me something important: the game does not concern everything in ultra settings.
These days, I play on a Ryzen 9,7900x and RTX 3080 12 GB, so I can perform most games from recent years at Ultra Settings. However, I found that, even with this high -end card (slightly older), there are times when I need to get things back.
It took me a little time to realize that there is not a huge difference between the ups and the ultra, or medium and high. Yes, there are differences, but the playability is much more important than loyalty.

Why shouldn’t you be afraid to perform games on average parameters
The middle road is very underestimated.
For fast rhythm games where the FPS has the most, all particles and other elements with high graphic intensity are generally refused anyway to offer you the most refined and without distraction game experience.
However, in the games based on history, there is a balance. As a rule, I try to push my graphic parameters as high as possible, but the value striking at least 60 IPS on average in the game.
60 IPS is my personal target, and I agree perfectly to compose things to hit this. You should be too. Just because the new Call of duty Guard, and you cannot push it to 4K 144 IPS does not mean that it is time for a new graphics card. Just get certain parameters and enjoy the game.
You don’t need the latest equipment to enjoy playing new games in 2025
I used to continue the last and the greatest. For a while, I was a personalized PC manufacturer and I was constantly playing with extremely high -end systems. In 2016, I built a SLI GTX 1080 Ti system with 128 GB of RAM and the I7-6950X processor.
It was a system worth thousands at the time, and I had never experienced anything like this before. During this period of my life, I also had an ultra-high range system with the I7-6800K, 64 GB of DDR4 and the GTX 1080 (which was high-end when I bought it), and that was not enough for me. I have never been satisfied.
It was not until years later that I realized that I did not need the last equipment as soon as it came out to enjoy the game. I could simply take advantage of it on the equipment that I currently ran.
The fact is that it is very likely that your current system will even play 2025 games on average parameters. There is a chance that you cannot execute 4K ultra and push more than 120 IPS, but do you really need it?
My challenge for you is the following: try to make your current system last as long as possible. I have a good friend to me who led a GTX 1080 until a few months ago. He has two 4K 144Hz monitors, and has always directed his GTX 1080. Now he has the RTX 5070 TI, and it was a big upgrade for him.
At the end of the day, upgrade when you think you need it. I’m just trying to show you the other side of the track, where you can get a little more life from your current system and always be satisfied with your gaming experience at the same time.
Now, if you are running a ten year old game system, it may be time to upgrade. Here are five tips to facilitate the construction of your new PC. Then make sure you build your PC in this order if you want to have the most fluid experience as possible.
