Striker still ‘Hoping’ to Join Newcastle United Despite £25m Bid Rejected – Report
Brentford de Wissa’s frustration reports a possible first league upheaval
The unexpected departure of Yoane Wissa unexpected from the Brentford training ground, without participating in the session or engaging with his teammates, triggered serious questions about his future at the club. According to Sky Sports News, the attacker only spent three hours at the training center before leaving alone, a decision described by sources as being underpinned by frustration and increasing disillusionment.
The report, delivered by Dharmesh Sheth and Gail Davis, reveals that Wissa is “angry and disappointed with the club’s approach on its future” after a serious interest in Newcastle United. The Magpies recently had an offer of 25 million pounds Sterling rejected by Brentford, who would be reluctant to separate from another key striker after the move from Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, who could reach 71 million pounds sterling.
Brentford’s hard line on expenses
Brentford’s refusal to sell Wissa, despite increasing pressure and a concrete offer from Newcastle, reflects a club seeking to draw a line under a summer of upheavals. The loss of head coach Thomas Frank and the captain of the Christian Norgaard club already reports an important cultural reset to the club. Allowing Wissa to leave, in particular after sanctioning the record release of Mbeumo, could further destabilize the team.

Wissa’s frustration seems to be less on money and more on opportunities. At 28, Dr. Congo International began his early years and wishes a decision that could raise his career. Newcastle’s approach would potentially offer European football, a higher profile platform and, above all, a system of attack that corresponds to its dynamic style of play.
Newcastle’s pursuit: persistent but pragmatic
Although Newcastle does not come back with a second official offer, it is understood that the club “always wants to make an agreement but looks at other options”. This statement, quoted by Sky Sports News, suggests that Wissa is one of several targets envisaged by Eddie Howe and the Recruitment team of St James’ Park.
Financially, Newcastle can be wary of too much paid given the inflated prices observed this window, as evidenced by the costs of Mbeumo. However, Wissa Premier League experience, versatility and proven attack production make it an attractive target during a summer when value is more and more difficult to find.
Changing Brentford’s face could encourage the release
Brentford’s project under Thomas Frank had been admired through the league, with a unified approach based on the data that has drawn the best party from underestimated talents. But with Frank Gone and key figures that come out now, players like Wissa may wonder what comes next.
If bees intend to withstand Newcastle’s interest, they will have to carefully manage the dissatisfaction of Wissa. The absences of the training field, even short, send signals in modern football. Clubs, fans and the media take note. Whether intentional or not, the early departure of Wissa may have spoken stronger than the words.
“Wissa hopes Newcastle has not given up signing it.”
If Newcastle returns with an improved offer in the fence steps of the window, Brentford will face a dilemma. Keep a player disappointed or do you take when the value remains high?
Our point of view – Analysis of the EPP index
From the point of view of a fan of Newcastle United, Wissa’s situation looks like a story with legs. Wissa is a talent experienced in the Premier League, adaptable through the first three and blessed with rhythm, power and a nose for goals. For 25 million pounds sterling, it would have been an intelligent business on the inflated market today. What Brentford rejected this offer tells you either that they appreciate it above, or they dig to avoid a full summer exodus.
It is encouraging that “Newcastle still wants to agree” according to Sky Sports News. This suggests that the club has not closed the door. With the ambitions of the Champions League and the need for the depth of the team, in particular given the history of the injuries of Callum Wilson, Wissa is perfectly logical.
The early outing of training could be considered the way of Wissa to open the door. He clearly wants the move, and for Newcastle, it is a good sign. Players motivated to join the project tend to work better once you arrive. It seems that one more offer, perhaps closer to 30 million pounds sterling, could seal it.
For our part, fans supported the movement. He has Premier League experience, he is hungry and he has shown lightnings of real quality in Brentford. If Brentford moves and we land Wissa, it could be one of the smartest offers in our summer.
