Buccaneers Send Strong Signal About Baker Mayfield’s Future
Over the past two years, Baker Mayfield has found a clear house with Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After being drafted with the overall choice n ° 1 of the 2018 NFL draft, it took him a while to understand his career.
He spent four years with the Browns of Cleveland at the start of his career. There were times when he looked like a rising superstar, but the franchise gave him up quickly.
After this time with the Browns, Mayfield played seven games with the Carolina Panthers and five games with the Rams of Los Angeles during the 2022 season before landing with the Buccaneers in 2023.

Since his signature with Tampa Bay, Mayfield has completely broken out. He became a legitimate star led the Buccaneers to the playoffs during each of his first two years with the franchise.

Mayfield was signed for a 100 million dollars contract over three years on March 10, 2024, but a new agreement could arrive in the near future to keep it long -term in the city.
Recently, the director general of Tampa Bay, Jason Licht, spoke to athletics and sent a strong signal to what the Buccaneers plan to do with Mayfield in the future.
“I love Baker. I love everything he has done for us,” said Licht. “The objective for us is that Baker continues to be the player he is, and at one point, we reach an extension when the time has come and he continues to be our quarterrier for a long time. This is the goal.”
In the same article, Mayfield also spoke of his current state of mind with Tampa Bay. He found his joy again for football.
“No matter what I played for, I would always present myself and I would do my job,” said Mayfield. “I think they know it here. I live a dream. I play football for a job, and I like the group I have. I would not change it for nothing.”

Last season with the Buccaneers, Mayfield played 17 games and made 71.4% of his attempted passes for 4,500 yards, 41 affected and 16 interceptions. He also ran for 378 yards and three other scores.
At 30, he still has a lot of time playing at a high level. For the moment, it seems that Tampa Bay plans to make sure that he continues to play for the Buccaneers.
