Suspect charged in Chicago shooting that injured former Dolton mayor Tiffany Henyard’s father

A suspect has been charged in a Chicago shooting that injured former Dolton mayor Tiffany Henyard’s father, she and Chicago police said Saturday.

Chicago police had been looking for a group of three people who ambushed a group of people on the West Side and shot one of them.

The man who was shot is the father of former Dolton mayor Tiffany Henyard.

The shooting happened around 5:54 p.m. on March 25 in the 1300 block South Kedzie Avenue in North Lawndale, Chicago police said.

A suspect, 18-year-old Cordale Carroll, is now facing charges, including attempted murder, CPD said Saturday.

Carroll was arrested Thursday in Chicago, police said. He appeared in court Saturday.

Henyard said her father was critically wounded in the shooting, but did survive.

The former Dolton mayor issued a statement Saturday, saying in part, “First, I want to thank God that the Chicago Police Department and detectives have captured one of the suspects in the shooting of my father. I have faith that the remaining individuals involved will also be brought to justice.”

No further information about the shooting was immediately available as Chicago police continue to investigate.
