Isn’t it cool to see how your television lights up when you enter the room? Okay, you probably don’t have that, but TCL hopes you will do it one day. The company publishes the first Google TV to ship with Gemini, and it also has crazy presence detection capacities.
TCL brings its new QM9K series to the American market, and it’s cool enough for several reasons. As mentioned, these are the first Google televisions with integrated Gemini. It was first shown at these earlier this year, and it seems to be a decent improvement compared to the Google Standard assistant. Gemini are supposed to be more conversational and contextual, so you can ask him more natural questions and get better answers.
This is probably not the most interesting feature, however. This new television is delivered with a sensor of presence, but it is not only a stupid camera or motion sensor. It is a mmwave sensor, and it can be supposed to make the difference between you just walking near the television or sit on the sofa. You can even refine the radius in the room, so it does not light up simply because you are in the same general neighborhood. It is a small detail that could make a big difference in the way you interact with your TV.
As for the rest of the details, the QM9K series will be available in four sizes: 65, 75, 85 and 98 inch, all with 4K resolution and a cooling rate of 144 Hz. It also has very thin glasses in what TCL calls a “zero -burning” design. TCL also says that new panels are 30% brighter with 57% more precise gradation zones than their previous models. And if you are not someone who uses external audio devices for your television, you will appreciate the fact that the sound is from Bang & Olufsen.
TVs should be sold later this month, from Best Buy. Unfortunately, TCL has not yet announced the price, but on the basis of specifications and considering that the existing QM8K series easily exceeds $ 1,000, you can expect it to be a little more expensive.
