Ted Cruz Has a Good Guess as to When the Schumer Shutdown Is Likely to End, and Why – RedState
The Schumer Shutdown has been going on for over a month now.
It started on October 1, and the Senate won’t even be able to take another vote until Tuesday at the earliest.
The extended closure raises concerns, particularly regarding funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and its potential impact on air transportation.

Fox News Channel’s Maria Bartiromo asked Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Sunday if he thought the government would open for business this week because the shutdown was having “a serious impact on the U.S. economy.” Cruz had a smart view of when it might be over and why.

“I think it will probably open Wednesday or Thursday this week,” he said.
Democrats will wait until after Election Day because they think a shutdown is good for energizing the crazies in their party. But I think it will be either at the end of the week or at the beginning of next week. »
That seems like a pretty smart assessment to me. The purpose of this exercise seems to have been to pump up the left-wing base, to try to make them understand that, one way or another, the Democrats were “fighting” for them. If they get people out and they can come away with victories, even if they were in areas where they were already ahead, they can say, “Hey, look, guys, we beat them” and convince the left that they did something. This gives them a sort of way out to argue.
They probably think it can help them in Virginia, where there are a lot of federal workers, and then they can all vote. Maybe. But federal workers and others in Virginia might also realize that it’s Democrats who are behind the shutdown. We have seen that the Republicans have gained popularity since the start of the confinement. We saw that the largest federal employee union, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), called on everyone to vote for clean RC and open government.

As with many things with Democrats, this could backfire.
It says a lot about Democrats, too, if that is their motivation: They are more concerned about their own power than how such political games would affect people who haven’t been paid, people on SNAP, people who might otherwise be affected by the shutdown and the adverse effects on the economy.
This is entirely credible, given what we’ve seen from Democrats.
