Mastodon is bringing quote posts to the fediverse

Mastodon officially deploys quotes. From next week, you will see an option to quote another user by selecting the Republic – or “Boost” button -, allowing you to add your reflections to someone else’s message.
The decentralized platform initially planned not to launch quotes on the concerns they could be used for harassment or to get someone out of context. Mastodon reversed this decision in February, saying that a lack of quotation positions could discourage people from joining the Fediverse.
Mastodon first provides quote publications in Mastodon.online and Mastodon. If you do not want someone to republish your content with a quote, Mastodon will allow you to deactivate the quote for all messages, or simply for individual messages. You can also limit who gives you anyone on the platform, subscribers only or simply, as well as deleting your content from someone else’s quote message.
Mastodon notes that if you quote a message from another Fediverse platform, “it can take some time for the quote to appear.” He also worked on a technical specification for the publication of quotes in the Fediverse and hopes that other platforms will adopt him. You can find more information on quote publications, as well as how to adjust your quote publication settings, on the Mastodon website.
