Texas House Democrats Relent And Head Home

The Democrats of Texas House will end up their deadlines for several weeks on Tuesday and will return to Austin.
The Democrats of the Chamber of Representatives of Texas fled to democratic bastions like New York and Illinois to block a special session on redistribution, a decision that could have given the Republicans new seats in the House of Representatives of the United States. The legislators claim to have achieved their objectives by derailing the first special session and by drawing national attention to the effort led by the Republicans, according to ABC 13.
Although the exact date of their return is not clear, the Democrats say that they will favor the relief of the floods of the country of the hills once they resume work. Their decision comes when the room failed to reach a quorum on Tuesday, with only 95 members present for the second consecutive day. The president of the Texas Chamber, Dustin Burrows, said that if the dead end continues until Friday, the current session will end and a new one will start.

The Texas Senate approved the new Congress card during a 19-2 vote after nine Democratic senators left the Chamber, according to Texas Tribune. The card would move the districts of democratic representatives Henry Cuellar, Greg Casar, Al Green and Julie Johnson in regions that former President Donald Trump brought at least 10.4% in the 2024 elections.
The Republicans now control 219 seats in the American Chamber, while the Democrats hold 212, with four un -filled seats. On Friday, the Texas Republican Prosecutor General Ken Paxton asked a court to declare the seats of the democrats in the vacant flight, accusing them of organizing an “rebellion outside the state”.
The Republicans defended their proposed cards by stressively emphasizing democratic cards in other states. After the 2024 elections, California sent 43 Democrats and nine Republicans to the American House, against 40 Democrats and 12 Republicans after the middle of 2022, according to Ballotpedia. In New York, the Democrats revised the borders of the congress after the mid-term of 2022, creating a map which took up to six of the 11 seats held republican in danger. At the end of the 2024 elections, the Democrats checked 19 seats with the Seven Republicans, a net gain of three, after winning a special election launched by the expulsion of the Republican representative of New York George Santos.
The Democrats of Illinois also straightened the district lines before the middle of 2022, eliminating two republican seats, including that of the representative of the time, Adam Kinzinger. The state, which lost a seat after the 2020 census, went from 13 Democrats and five Republicans to 14 Democrats and three Republicans in its delegation from the Chamber, Ballotpedia reported.
