The Miami Dolphins waived undrafted free agent Theo Wease Jr. on roster cut day, but turned around and signed the former Missouri Tiger to their practice squad, according to NFL Network.
Wease scored two touchdowns in the Dolphins’ second preseason game against the Detroit Lions and showed flashes of his ability.

The Dolphins have a deep receiver room, and with the duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle commanding most of the targets from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, there was not much opportunity on the active roster to start the season. Wease showed promise and with his build, he could blossom into a red-zone target for the Dolphins down the line.
With a similar build to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, it became difficult for the Dolphins to find a roster spot for Wease, as new tight end Darren Waller is also in line to be a major red-zone target for the Dolphins.
Wease was a standout next to Luther Burden III with Missouri last season, but went undrafted in this year’s NFL draft, and, with a promising preseason, was a likely candidate to land on a practice squad with the opportunity to be on the active roster by season’s end.
After landing on Miami’s practice squad, Wease could find the opportunity to play in games this season if there were to be an injury that sidelined one of their receivers for a week or two.
Wease was one of seventh-round pick Quinn Ewers’ favorite targets this preseason and showed promise for the future of his NFL journey.
