Two people were killed – one of them, a retired customs agent and the border patrol – and several others were injured when a shooter opened fire in a casino in Eagle Pass, Texas, just after midnight on Sunday, the authorities announced.

San Antonio resident Keryan Jones, 34, was arrested a few hours later in Stockdale, 180 miles east of the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass, after several law enforcement organizations joined the hunt, KSAT-TV reported. He was accused of two capital murder leaders and five heads of assault in fact with a deadly weapon.

The traditional Kickapoo Tribe of Texas Extradera Jones Kickapoo Department in the reserve, said the Eagle Pass police service.

Local officials identified the two killed as the retired agent of the CBP Marcus Antley and the resident of the county of Dimmit, Alicia Sanchez. Five injured were transported by plane in the Hospitals in San Antonio in critical condition, Katv-TV reported.

The shots broke out during a raffled raffle event in the casino, Katv reported, but it was not clear what triggered him. The suspect fled and did halfway through the Stockdale state, where Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers caught up after following his license plate and tried to remove it, the authorities said. He resisted and continued to run, until the cops can finally stop his vehicle. Even then, they had to deploy a taser, police said.

“We have a heart broken by the violence that occurred at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino,” the traditional Kickapoo of Texas said in a press release obtained by Katv.

“I want to express my deep gratitude to all our coordinated law organizations for their rapid action and tireless commitment,” said Maverick’s county judge Ramsey English Cantú, in a press release on Facebook. “Together, our local, state and federal partners worked 24 hours a day to put this person in detention. Now we have to ensure justice for the victims and their families. Our prayers remain with them during this difficult period. ”

Cantú added: “Let me be clear: we will not tolerate violence in our community. We remain determined to ensure the safety of all our residents and visitors and will continue to remain united to protect the county of Maverick. ”
