Man accused of breaking into Downers Grove HS, forcing worker to search for money ordered detained

A Chicago man accused of breaking into Downers Grove North High School was arrested and taken into custody Saturday.
Deon McLaughlin allegedly broke in Wednesday morning and forced a night shift employee to search the school for money.

The state’s attorney said he was out on bail for other violent crimes at the time.
A judge granted the state’s motion to detain him, citing the seriousness of the charges and his criminal history.
McLaughlin is due back in court on January 5.
