Jason Varitek’s batting practice decides Red Sox’ fantasy draft order

This is the end of summer, which means that the time of a sacred tradition has arrived: to determine the order of fantastic football projects.
The possibilities are practically endless. There is the simple and simple – you can fall back on the ranking of last season or enlist a computer program to assign random numbers on behalf of each player. For the ambitious, one breed in person or another form of physical competition can be a fun decision maker.
Or, if you and your friends have three times All-Star and the Slugger in money 2005 Jason Varitek Trainant, you could have it caught in a stick. It worked for the Boston Red Sox, at least.
On Tuesday, the Red Sox players determined the order of their draft in a simple but distinctive way: they wrote the name of each player on a baseball, then had Varitek, the team’s planning and prevention coach, get swings.
The more the ball of an designated player went, the better he obtained the choice.

Unfortunately for Greg Weissert, it was reported that the longtime Boston Catcher was able to send most of his other balls on the warning track or out of the outside wall, so the relief launcher found himself with a late choice.
Previously, the Red Sox decided on their order for fantastic football draft by rechuing golf balls off the emblematic green monster of Fenway Park in the left field. It is not the only team to use their stadium for fantastic purposes – last week, the players of Toronto Blue Jays determined their order by seeing who could drop the figurines of the parachy army closest to a bucket from the top of the Rogers Center.
