Mediterranean mussel farming could collapse by 2050

Greenhouse gas emissions are warming our atmosphere and oceans and making seawater more acidic. One of the myriad expected impacts of these conditions is a reduction in agricultural yields of shellfish, such as oysters and mussels. Coastal communities around the world rely on these organisms for their economies and as a major food source. However, the exact impact of climate change on oyster and mussel cultivation is not yet clear.
