Social Security Administration sends misleading email lauding Trump’s new tax cuts law

Washington – The Social Security Administration has sent a deceptive email to the beneficiaries declaring that the tax reductions and the expenses of President Donald Trump eliminate tax security benefits for most beneficiaries.
“The bill guarantees that nearly 90% of social security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income tax on their advantages, providing significant and immediate relief to the elderly who spent a lifetime contributing to the economy of our country,” said the email, which several beneficiaries have shared with NBC News.
“The new law includes a provision that eliminates federal income taxes on social security benefits for most beneficiaries, by granting alleviation to individuals and couples,” he said.
An identical note was published Thursday on the SSA website, on the same day, several beneficiaries told NBC News that they had received the email.
The emails came before Trump is preparing to sign his massive tax discounts and his expenditure package, which he called the “great and beautiful bill” in a fourth July ceremony at the White House.
Trump’s domestic policy package, which the congress sent to its office Thursday, extends the tax discounts expired by the president he promulgated in 2017 and also creates a temporary tax deduction for advice and overtime income.
But that does not eliminate federal taxes on social security. Budget reconciliation, the Senate republicans of the arcanic process used to adopt the bill while avoiding a democratic filibusier, does not allow changes to social security.
The Trump package includes a temporary tax deduction of up to $ 6,000 for people aged 65 and over, and $ 12,000 for the elderly. The Trump’s economic advisers’ Council argued last month that nearly 9 out of 10 elderly people would pay no federal tax on their social security services, as the new deduction would eliminate their tax burden.
“Under the Big Beautiful Bill, 51.4 million elderly people – 88% of all the elderly receiving social security income – will not pay any tax on their social security,” wrote the Council.
Trump, who promised during the 2024 campaign that he would kill taxes on Social Security, repeated the false affirmation that the legislation does exactly. He made the complaint during an Iowa rally Thursday evening and during the invoice signature ceremony on Friday.
“After that, our country will be an economically rocket,” said Trump during the White House ceremony, “and we have not delivered any tax on advice, no tax on overtime and no social security tax for our great seniors.”
Representatives of the White House and SSA did not respond to requests for comments. The first named Trump policy at the SSA, Commissioner Frank Bisignano, said in the email that the new tax reductions represent a “historic step for American seniors”.
“For almost 90 years, social security has been a cornerstone of economic security for older Americans. By considerably reducing the tax burden of social benefits, this legislation reaffirms the promise of President Trump to protect social security and helps to guarantee that the elderly can benefit from the retirement they have obtained,” Bisignano wrote in email.
Former SSA officials and Congress Democrats said they were dismayed by what they considered a highly political email sent to the Americans by a federal agency.
“This email has been returned to each subscriber to Social Security and each word is a lie.
Jeff Nesbit, a former senior social security official during the Biden administration, said the political emails were very unusual, slamming them as “incredible” and “inadmissible”.
“I was assistant Commissioner for Social Security Administration. Appointed by President Biden. The agency has never published such a blatant political declaration, “Nesbit, who also served in the administrations of George HW Bush, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, published on X.
According to the SSA, more than 70 million retirees, survivors and disabled people receive social security benefits.
