Jannik Sinner tops Carlos Alcaraz in rematch to win Wimbledon

Jannik Sinner, the best classified, exceeded an overwhelming defeat against Carlos Alcaraz to the French Open last month to win his long-awaited revenge match 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 Sunday and won his first Wimbledon title and his fourth major championship.
Only five weeks after the No. and 2 in the world, played the second largest male final on the red clay of Roland -Garros – with Alcaraz overcoming a deficit in two sets and saving three match points along the way – it was the sinner who had to rally after having abandoned the opening set on the grass at the two -time Wimbledon champion.
Sinner, a 22 -year -old from Italy who won the US Open last September and defended his title of Australian Open in January, played in his fourth consecutive final of the Grand Chelem but first at the All England Club. He is the first Italian player to win a title of simple Wimbledon.
The sinner and Alcaraz disclosed the last seven trophies of the Grand Chelem, and nine of the last 12. Rightly so, it marked the first time the same two men faced in title matches at the French Open and Wimbledon the same year since Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal did in 2006, 2007 and 2008. It did not happen for more than half-descents before this trilogy.
The sinner led 4-2 at the start of the match, but Alcaraz won four consecutive games to hang the first set. In the second, the sinner broke Alcaraz in the opening match and held the rest of the path – despite his interruption by a fan in the stands which opens a bottle of champagne while the sinner was preparing to serve the match at 2-1. Liège landed at the sinner’s feet.
The sinner broke Alcaraz for an advance of 5-4 on the way to claim the third pivot set, pulling seven AS after having 0 on the first two sets.
While serving at 4-3, 15-40 in the fourth set, Sinner faced two break points. But he calmly took the next four points to hold back, and quickly served the victory. At the end, the sinner put both hands on his white hat. After kissing Alcaraz with a net, the sinner crouched on the ground with his head bowed, then shelled his right palm on the grass.
The 532 -day period between the Australian victories of the Australian Open in 2024 of Sinner is the shortest second of all men to win its first four majors, after Federer (434 days of Wimbledon 2003 at US Open 2004).
Alcaraz entered the Court of the Center de Bain du Soleil as owner of an undefeated race for 24 career games and after defeating the sinner five times in a row. Alcaraz had won 20 consecutive games at the All England Club, including victories against Novak Djokovic in the 2023 and 2024 final, and his percentage of victory .921 on the grass (35-3) in his career at the tour was the best by any man in the open era.
The last man to beat Alcaraz in Wimbledon? Sinner, in the fourth round in 2022.
Bearing the same band work and the white arm sleeve to protect his right elbow that he has used since he fell into the opening match of his victory in the fourth round against Grigor Dimitrov, the sinner never showed any problems, just as he had not done while eliminating the major champion 24 times Djokovic in the semi-finals.
