The Especially Cool Thing About Trump’s Plan to Install Columbus Statue on WH Grounds – RedState
Among the many things the woke left has done over the past decade is either pushing for historical statues to be removed or taking it upon themselves to vandalize and/or destroy them in the name of “social justice.”
It started with Confederacy-era monuments, but as critics predicted at the time, the militant left didn’t stop there. Then they moved on to statues of our Founding Fathers and other important American figures who helped lay the foundation and shape the country we know and love today.
They also targeted legendary explorer and discoverer Christopher Columbus, with some statues of Columbus decapitated or torn down during the George Floyd riots in 2020. Antifa/Black Lives Matter-led agitators even went so far as to tear down the Christopher Columbus statue in Baltimore and dump it in the city’s Inner Harbor on Independence Day that same year.

Luckily for us, President Trump has an affinity for Christopher Columbus, something we’ve seen repeatedly in 2025, including in October, when he signed a proclamation calling for October 13 to once again be officially celebrated as Columbus Day, despite attempts by the left to rename it “Indigenous Peoples Day” nationally.
And on Wednesday, we learned that a statue of Christopher Columbus will soon be installed on the grounds of the White House:
President Donald Trump is considering installing a statue of Christopher Columbus on the White House grounds, according to three people with knowledge of the decision. in its latest effort to remake the presidential campus and celebrate the famous and controversial explorer.
The statue is expected to be located on the south side of the lot, near E Street and north of the Ellipse, two of the people said, while cautioning that plans could change. The three spoke on condition of anonymity to speak in private discussions.
The particularly cool part? The statue is a reconstructed version of the one that woketivist crowds threw into this port:
The statue chosen by Mr. Trump would be a reconstruction of the one unveiled in Baltimore by President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s and thrown into the city’s harbor by demonstrators in 2020 as part of demonstrations for racial equality after the death of George Floyd.
A group of Italian-American businessmen and politicians salvaged the destroyed pieces of the port and rebuilt it with financial support from local charities and federal grants.
Bill Martin, one of these businessmen, organized the reclamation campaign. He told the Post that the item would be moved from a warehouse on Maryland’s Eastern Shore to the Trump administration in the coming weeks.
