Trump’s Mixed Messages About Iran

President Trump continues to offer different answers about what victory in Iran might look like. Panelists on Washington Week with the Atlantic we joined last night to discuss this and much more.
“Tactically, there is no doubt that overwhelming military power is being brought to bear and that Iran is deteriorating,” David Ignatius, foreign affairs columnist at The Washington Postsaid last night. But “the more I look at this process of continuous shelling of a weak enemy, I am reminded of the Gaza war.” After two years of fighting, “Hamas still controls most Palestinians in Gaza,” Ignatius said. “Even with all this power, Israel was not able to win – and I think that’s what worries us all. »
