I recently stayed at the Paramount Times Square — A Generator Hotel. While I was expecting well-designed spaces and a “cool” factor, I was not expecting to be as blown away as I was on a Tuesday night.

As I entered the hotel, a Broadway performer at the top of her game was belting out “The Wizard and I” from Wicked. This was not random; every other Tuesday, the lobby of the historic building is taken over by one of Broadway’s beloved nonprofits, The Janice Jam.

Stage Sessions x Janice Jam is from 5 to 8 PM, and features live vocals and iconic songs. STAGE TIME, a high-energy late-night showcase, ”occurs from 9 to 11 PM. It’s centered around live music and themed performances and is hosted by PJ Adzima (The Book of Mormon). Within those two time slots, guests of the hotel and visitors can see Broadway stars perform, up close and personal, and sip on themed cocktails like the “Wicked” Negroni—with no advance seat purchase required.

While entry to the residency is free, every donation dollar raised goes towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, founded and executive produced byBroadway performer Matt DeAngelis in memory of his mother Janice, who passed away from metastatic breast cancer in 2022.

The organization puts on events throughout the year, but I appreciated how intimate the Tuesday residency at Paramount Times Square — A Generator Hotel was. I was steps away from people living out their Broadway dreams, and was treated to everything from a Cabaret medley (my favorite!) to a sneak peek at a trio of songs from a forthcoming show performed by Broadway star and “American Idol” alum Emma Busse.

If theatre is not for you, Paramount Times Square — A Generator Hotel is currently also running a Blossoms on Broadway package through May 20, designed around cherry blossom season.

Guests receive an in-room kit that includes a Kitsch satin pillowcase set and accessories in cherry print, TONYMOLY hydrating sheet masks and hand creams, Republic of Tea matcha singles, a Flat Lay Co. makeup bag, and a Pendleton roll-up blanket for a picnic in Central Park—the perfect way to celebrate spring in New York City.

Book now—or just stop by on a Tuesday if you happen to be in NYC. The residency will pick back up every other Tuesday on May 12th.
