What would actually make the Apple Watch better?

I thought about the major Apple event next Tuesday. I will be seated at the Steve Job Theater from Apple, a blog ready to live. Tim Cook will be released for a brief moment to salute hello. I’m probably going to nod my theater colleagues with me – we have already overcome the match plan. My ears will be hit for Apple Watch’s announcements, because it’s my rhythm. Paradoxically, this is where this visualization exercise perplexes me. After a decade of Apple watches, I find it hard to imagine what would make the world’s most emblematic smartwatch.
You might say that the Apple Watch does not need to change a lot because people already love it. It is, after all, the most popular watch in the world. With the exception of the market study company, Counterpoint recently reported that in 2024 – ironically, the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch – marked the very first drop in the global smartwatch market. He said Apple Watch’s expeditions have dropped 19% over the other year, marking five consecutive quarters of decrease due to a drop in demand from consumers, less models from which to choose and less substantial upgrades. In other words, most people did not think that buying a new watch would improve their lives.
So what would be Go to Apple Watch its momentum? The obvious answer after Galaxy unpacked and made by Google would be to put the AI in the watch. Wear OS has Gemini now, so a really intelligent Siri would even do things. But that doesn’t seem very good since, with less than a miracle, a smarter Siri probably does not materialize this year. The wrist Gemini have been interesting, because it allows you to make more complex and several stages queries,, But it also felt a little undefined. This makes sense as part of a broader and long -term strategy, but at the moment, I would bet that many people would find it difficult to differentiate what distinguishes him from Google Assistant. An Siri at noon on the wrist would probably face similar problems.

Rumors and reports suggest that Apple will introduce satellite communications on the new generation Apple Watch, as well as a larger screen. No surprise there. Google and Garmin have just introduced satellite communication with the Pixel Watch 4 and Fenix 8 Pro series, respectively. The Apple Watch budget can get a completely plastic design refreshment – however BloombergMark Gurman recently noted that Apple leaders may have canceled this plan. The Apple Watch 11 series could obtain 5G connectivity and high blood pressure warnings. These are not updates to be motivated, but collectively, it is not the kind of blowing updates that immediately convince people to upgrade. (The only exception could be blood pressure, but it would strongly depend on the implementation.)
If we are talking about things that would do it Really Improve the Apple Watch, Apple must simply give people what they want. And almost anything is possible.
Take third -party Watchfes, for example, Apple has argued that this puts an important effort to ensure that native Watchfes work “uniformly and simply”. However, fans wanted really customizable watchfaces – you know, as they do in the US -OS field – for years. There are currently bypass solutions, but it is mainly separate applications that display a clock face compared to a real watch in integrated Watchos.
Also, let people use their Apple Watch without An iPhone. You can do it via the family configuration, but I mean the real taboo thing: let people use it with an Android phone. There is documented evidence that Apple played with this idea in the past, he has finally decided not to do it, because he helps keep people locked up on the iPhone. In almost a decade of revision of portable devices, I met dozens of pure and harsh Android users who would have loved using the Apple Watch. My cousin only uses a Samsung smartwatch because they like foldable phones and Apple does not. (However?) Given their Druthers, they prefer to return to an Apple Watch, even if they would lose practical interoperability features with iPhones and Macs.

You will find many user requests on Reddit. Requests for better battery life are omnipresent and more ambitious, non -invasive monitoring of blood sugar. (The latter is very unlikely for a while.) Some require better nap recognition in sleep monitoring. Others want Touch ID via the digital crown instead of passing codes, to send messages in other applications such as Instagram or WhatsApp, a display always activated for SE, the accuracy training training for regular standard watches and a better applications. In the comments of my criticism, there is always someone who believes that he would go to the Apple Watch if Apple admits that a round face is aesthetically higher than a rectangle. (Although I agree, Apple does not do it. I’m going to eat my good shoe if it happens.) When I asked one of my friends who is a pure and hard user of the Apple Watch watch, his answer was simple and categorical: “Just the Freakin ‘Full Health application on the watch.”
I don’t envy Apple. His work on Apple Watch paved the way for the current era of smart watches. It is a compliment that it is really difficult to think of new innovations that would considerably improve the aircraft. There is a reason why it is so emblematic. Alas, the head is the head that carries the crown. And although the simplest thing can do is give people what they want, I would be satisfied with a revitalized thesis.
Pixel Watch 4 updates are intriguing because of their opinion. Only none was particularly splashing. Together, they brush a clear image that Google believes that the future of portable technology lies in AI equipment. This more or less corresponds to Google’s overall ambitions with ambient computers and Gemini.
Apple does not need to take the AI material path (although I am sure that its investors are pressure for this). But unless there is a sparkling “more thing”, a renewed feeling that all of this leads somewhere would go very far. If the present is blah, then having faith that a better future is in preparation makes the wait that is worth it. Otherwise, that hardly hardens – and which is really excited for the status quo?
