The iPhone Air has one-upped the folding iPhone before it’s even been revealed
Every few years, the faithful of the apple flows his hooks in a new product “one more” thing “which, we are convinced, will change All. More recently, it was pro vision. The next prospect of this long line of Halo products? The folding iPhone of next year.
This long -term device has been massively excited in recent years, and there are many reasons to be excited. On the one hand, Apple waits for it to think that it is perfected a concept before launching a new category of products. If this is true for the foldable iPhone, we could be something really innovative.
The problem? I expect most people just don’t buy a folding iPhone.
The main drawback is probably the price, which will undoubtedly be absolutely high. Foldable phones from other companies are already expensive because of their high -tech components and their high -end positioning. In addition, it is Apple we are talking about. The company does not hesitate to charge a bonus for a polished quality experience, in particular for first generation devices.
Folding phones are a niche product that has not yet found a consumer public.

In addition to that, foldable phones are a really niche offer. Most of us just don’t need (or even want) of such a device. A standard form factor phone does the job for most average users, while pro iPhones meet the needs of enthusiasts. Only the most dedicated mobiles will want something like the foldable iPhone.
It has the potential to be an approximate opening tour for the Apple high challenge bet. But what happens if the next jewel of the iPhone is not shared somewhere on the horizon, but rather here, hiding in sight?
A taste of fresh air
Cut right in pursuit: I think iPhone air will do as much splash among the world’s phone fanatics as the foldable iPhone, if not more.
Apple fans set up thin and light in mass. The MacBook Air is one of the most popular laptops in the world, after all. The iPhone air offers all this good and slender goodness in heaps. And it is remarkably innovative with the entire phone housed in the “tray” camera, as Apple calls it.

Although it is a radical product, in many ways, it is also the same iPhone that we know and love, but improved. Compared to the iPhone 17, you get a thinner frame, superb durability, a high -end chip, the same large promotion screen and some unique improvements – it is the only iPhone in the latest range that still has a titanium frame, for a thing.
At the same time, there are not too many sacrifices to make. Apple promises that you will get a “day -long battery life” and although the company is too shy to mention raw figures, its website indicates that iPhone air has up to 27 hours of video playback. It is not so far behind the 31 hours of the iPhone 17 Pro. And of course, there is only one camera, but you can always take very beautiful photos of 48 MP. The 2x zoom is a little disappointing, just like the lack of macro mode, but it is not the end of the world.
All well considered, its combination of an incredible design and impressive features could make the iPhone Air a real success. If I was looking for a new iPhone, I would be cruelly tempted by its amazing slimming which denies its powerful internal. The foldable iPhone could follow the path of pro vision: a remarkable technology that few people really need or can afford.
The $ 999 price of the iPhone Air is a little higher than I hoped, but not too far (and not at all surprising). Even so, it is much more accessible than the foldable iPhone, which should cost more than $ 2,000. In the end, this means that iPhone air gives you a taste of the future without costing as much as the foldable iPhone.
A difficult professional position
This does not mean that iPhone air will not have its difficulties. As for the device that could publish a real challenge to the ultra-client apparatus of Apple? It would be the iPhone 17 Pro.
The $ 999 price of the iPhone Air puts it dangerously near the iPhone 17 Pro, which starts at $ 1,099. For $ 100 more, you get a much higher camera system, a longer battery life and better performance with the management of thermal power. I would not be surprised at all to see many people opt for the iPhone 17 Pro for the camera system alone, which is the head and shoulders above everything you get with the iPhone air.

That said, the differences between the two iPhones are not huge. Your choice is likely to depend on a question: do you like to take photos and videos? If so, get the iPhone 17 Pro. Otherwise, you could be better served by the iPhone Air.
In the end, being able to compete with the iPhone 17 Pro shows what an excellent iPhone air offer. It is far from being the simplistic “thin iPhone 17” device that some could have waited before Apple’s launch event. I did not expect it to go next to it with – and surpasses, in some respects – the iPhone 17 Pro so efficiently.
This makes the iPhone look in a good position. For me, it will probably be a much more convincing perspective than the foldable iPhone. And after watching Apple unveiled it during its event on Tuesday, I don’t think I’m the only one to feel that.
