The iPhone Air is thinner than these 17 very thin things
We knew it was going to happen, but it still caused our socks. During the press event “AWE Dropping” today, Apple announced the ultra-object flagship smartphone, which is only 5.6 mm thick. It is the thinner iPhone ever (comfortably beat a record held by the iPhone 6 since 2014), but it does not simply put Apple’s own products in the shade. Here are 17 things, ranging from technological products to foodstuffs, which seem positively obese alongside iPhone air.
Original iPod (19.8 mm)
The first iPod was more than three times and a half times the thickness of the iPhone air. You had to be thick to hold all of these songs!
Apple Newton Messagepad (19 mm)
Apple’s original PDA was sold in 1993. Subsequent models were even more important.
A standard card game (approximately 16.5 mm)
It is without the box and the jokes. The iPhone Air has roughly the same thickness as 18 playing cards.
iPhone 3G (12.3 mm)
The thickest iPhone of all time, surprisingly, was not the first model, which was 11.6 mm. It was the second models (3G) and third (3GS), which each measured 12.3 mm.
Apple Watch Series 11 (9.7 mm)
The new announced series 11 is the thiniest intelligent watch in Apple. (Or joint-Thinnest. Last year, the 10 series was also 9.7 mm.) At the other end of the scale, the Apple Watch Ultra 1 and 2 have a thickness of 14.4 mm and the new Ultra 3 is a svelte of 12 mm relatively.

Extremely thin slices bread (8 mm)
Warburtons mild white thick white, which I prefer, has 14 mm slices, but opt for a thin option should make you fall at around 10 mm. Something extremely like Pepperridge Farm very thin white bread could push about 8 mm, but you cannot go much further before it becomes translucent. And now I want a sandwich.
iPhone 16th (7.8 mm)
The latest models of the latest generation of Apple were the iPhone 16th, 16 and 16 Plus, which all measured a 7.8 mm comparatively joufflu. This means that air is 28% thinner.

Pixel’s thinnest phone was released in 2017.
Original iPad Air (7.5 mm)
It seemed so thin when it was released in 2013.

Although it is more a diameter, I suppose.
iPhone 6 (6.9 mm)
Oddly, the thinnest iPhone until the airs arrived was the iPhone 6 since the return in 2014. Apple has not shown much interest in the last decade to make a correctly thin phone … so far.

At the time (2013), it was the thinnest HD phone in the world.
Huawei Ascend P6 (6.18 mm)
When he was announced, also in 2013, Huawei said it was the thinnest smartphone in the world.
The thinnest pocket book I could find (6 mm)
Simple spies by Alan Bennett only measures 95 pages, but it looks like War and peace Next to the iPhone air.
Edge Samsung Galaxy S25 (5.8 mm)
Samsung’s thinnest smartphone is 5.8 mm thick.

Tecno Spark Slim (5.75 mm)
Presented at MWC 2025, the Spark Slim was asserted at the time as the thinnest smartphone in the world (although this was questionable – see below). It’s just a concept; Chinese manufacturers do not intend to put it on the market.
… And 5 which are even thinner
The iPhone air is thin. Really thin. But believe it or not, it is not the thinnest smartphone (or the Apple device).
Motorola Moto Z (5.2 mm)
Some people forgot this exceptionally thin device, perhaps because it was released in 2016.
13 -inch iPad Pro M4 (5.1 mm)
And that still doesn’t seem to be affected by Bendgate.
Oppo R5 (4.9 mm)
This was released in 2014, the same year as the iPhone 6.
Vivo X5Max (4.8 mm)
The thinnest non -folding phone I could find, in a frankly ridiculous 4.8 mm, was also released in 2014! What year for thin phones.
Multiple folding phones (as low as 4.2 mm)
In the above list, I have ignored folding phones, which can be thinner (in some cases considerably thinner) when they are unfolded. The Honor Magic V5 and the OPPO find N5, for example, are each 4.2 mm thick when it is “open”. But I do not think it is a fair comparison because the main experience of the user of their (in terms of portability) is when closed and twice the thickness.
