Many things have happened. Here are some of the things. This is the morning memo of TPM. Register For the e-mail version.

An instantaneous from America in the summer of 2025

I came back last night from a week -long trip by paddling on the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon. No telephone signal. No news. No real contact with the outside world.

While I was going home yesterday and I was starting to try to make up for what I had missed, I was quickly overwhelmed – as we all spent all year round – not only by the volume of news, but by the particular dynamics (I am still not sure to understand the thing of Sydney Sweeney) and the deformed information ecosystem of the Trump era.

So, if you make me happy this morning, I will offer some snapshots of the current moment who caught the attention of someone who managed to completely escape the news cycle for a week. The distance from this restored to me in some respects, but not necessarily the way I expected.

I had hoped that a week of wonder of geological time scales would make me more inclined to see Donald Trump as a temporary fashion in the wider scanning of our political history. But I came back instead a little more sensitive to the way we fell in such a short time.

WTF Is it?

Question of citizenship of the Redux census

Much to unpack here, but for the moment, it is enough to say that President Trump makes another attempt to exclude the non-citizens of the census to distribute the seats of the House and the votes of the electoral colleges, after the courts blocked the effort by hand of his first mandate:

Breaking: With the preparation # 2030Census already underway, President Trump said that he asked the trade department to “start work immediately” on a “new” census that excludes people living in the United States without legal status from a charging chief, the 14th amendment said must include “a total number of people in each state”

The body of American army engineers increased the normal water versions of a dam on the Little Miami river in the southwest of Ohio this month to welcome a canoe trip by vice-president JD Vance which coincided with its 41st anniversary, reports The Guardian. In the Guardian room, there is a tension as to whether the additional water has been used to make the river more navigable for the details of the secret vance services or to create a more ideal level of water for the personal leisure of the vice-president.
