The hit Netflix show, Stranger Thingscomes to an end this month, with the final episodes releasing over Christmas and New Year. This gives you plenty of time to watch theory videos, play Netflix. Stranger Things game and find Easter eggs on other platforms.

While you’re biting your nails after that incredible cliffhanger from Volume 1 and waiting for the finale, there’s Stranger Things Easter eggs to discover from the comfort of your Spotify app. What are they and how to find them?

The official Stranger Things playlist from Spotify

Stranger Things returns soon, closing out the story of our beloved party, Hawkins, and the mysterious Upside Down. As part of the season’s promotions, Stranger Things The official Spotify playlist, featuring iconic and nostalgic ’80s hits that you’ll find across all five seasons of the supernatural sci-fi series, comes complete with fun visual effects and Easter eggs for fans to enjoy.

In the past, Spotify Stranger Things The playlist came with Easter eggs like an Upside Down player with a torch progress bar to light it up, a custom playlist to save you from Vecna’s trance, and a cover by Lucas Sinclair actor Caleb McLaughlin of Spotify’s Throwback Thursday playlist.

Also for the latest season, Spotify has some interesting Easter eggs in the official playlist that you can explore. Here’s how to find them.

Stranger Things Easter Eggs and How to Find Them

The first Stranger Things The Easter egg you may have already noticed on Spotify is hidden in plain sight. Each listener is associated with a Stranger Things character based on their musical tastes, and they are displayed on the cover of the playlist (I have Lucas!). This one is a fun feature that matches your taste profile with a character from the main cast and can be seen on the Spotify mobile and desktop apps.

The second Easter egg, found in the Spotify mobile app, is hidden within the songs from the official soundtrack. Spotify loves to customize your progress bar visuals, as seen in last season’s promotions with the Torchlight Progress Bar. Now when your mobile Spotify player is open, your progress bar will have a Demogorgon head that you can drag from side to side to get a scary, red bar.

Finally, something I almost missed in the Stranger Things playlist, but one that is very insightful, is Storylines from Spotify. The feature (where artists usually add short video clips to their songs or albums) is used for the Stranger Things playlist to explain some notable songs from all seasons.

This includes information about the song and in which scene and episode you would have come across it. The stories were very helpful for me who didn’t grow up in the 80’s and wasn’t fully aware of all the songs featured. Spotify is not new to Easter eggs

Spotify is no stranger to popular media Easter eggs thanks to its official soundtrack collaborations. For example, when barbie was released in 2023, Spotify got a hot pink makeover with a special pink progress bar for the film’s official playlist.

Elsewhere, a timeless Easter egg you can check out even today can be found on your Spotify desktop app. When you go to the official Star Wars playlist on the desktop app, you’ll notice something interesting: When you play a song, the progress bar turns into a lightsaber that slowly materializes as the track plays. Your transformed progress bar even glows when you hover over it, and clicking on the hilt gives you several lightsaber options!

Google is also getting in on the Stranger Things fun

As much as I love Spotify Stranger Things 5 Easter eggs are no match for any other leading platform. Google’s special Easter egg for Stranger Things is an innovative and interactive solution that you can use to transform your display.

To find it, simply search for “Stranger Things” in the search engine, then look for the D20 die at the bottom of your screen. Click on it and your screen will crack. It then catapults your Google screen into the Upside Down, with an inverted display and floating spores straight from the nightmare dimension. Simply click the “X” (cross) at the bottom of your screen to cancel the change. You can also find this effect on the Google mobile application.

Google also has plenty of cool Easter eggs, from pop culture to random search phrases, for you to play with.
