the New Anti-Woke GOP Candidate for 31st District in TX ? – RedState

The fortunes of the Texas Republican Party may rest in the hands of an infamous late-night TV infomercial salesman. This sounds like a ridiculous and absurd policy proposal – BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! If you act now, you can support the electoral prospects of the genius behind the chamois towel you didn’t know you needed.

News spread over Thanksgiving that Vincent Shlomi had filed to run for Texas District 31 in the U.S. House of Representatives. To clear things up a bit, Shlomi goes by the name Vince Offer, but you probably know him by the more generic label – The Sham Wow Guy.

Mr. Offer was a fixture on late-night television for a few years, selling his miracle towels, said to hold 20 times their weight in liquids, serving as an all-purpose drying and cleaning product. The success was enough to see Vince later launch with another household gadget, the Slap Chop. This was a small, spring-activated countertop slicer.

Offer had been off the radar for some time, as he tried to make his way in Hollywood. He was the creative force behind a pair of dreary gutter-level comedies that ultimately went nowhere. Its second offering, “In APPropiate Comedy,” had something of a slew of well-known stars, like Lindsay Lohan, Adrien Brody, and Rob Schneider.

But now Offer is back and he wants to join the GOP power base today.

Texas’ 31st Congressional District is a largely rural area located directly north of Austin. He has been represented by John Carter, 84, for more than two decades, but the well-established politician faces a loaded primary field in the upcoming midterms, and the pitcher is ready to challenge the incumbent president.

He says he was inspired to enter the political fray when he was working on a recent video he dubbed “Woke-busters,” and the assassination of Charlie Kirk took place. “That drew me to it,” he told Time magazine, referring to the lapsed conservative voice. That’s what got him to run for office…even if his sales pitch is a little nebulous at the moment. The Time piece continues:

Shlomi admits that he still needs to “work” on the specifics of his platform. The main tenet of his campaign, however, is to fight against “wokeness” in America, which he says “is based on misinformation or false ideas in order to control people” and is accused of creating “hate and fear” in society. If elected, he wants to address the suppression of conservative views that he says is happening on some social media platforms.

You might not expect to see attack ads (infomercials?) regarding Carter, since Vince doesn’t seem to know his opponent’s professional history very well. (“I’m sure he’s done good things,” Shlomi says of Carter.) What Offer needs to do is get to work selling itself with the same vigor as its product lines, convincing people to stop having boring votes and to stop having boring politics.

“I did a really good job at ShamWow and just being myself,” the candidate says. “I just hope that maybe, again, this is my calling.”
