Samsung and LG 65-inch OLED TVs are under $1,000 ahead of Black Friday

Something I’m seeing more and more often as we get closer to Black Friday is the rise of 65-inch OLEDs priced under $1,000. It used to be that 55-inch was the largest OLED TV you could typically buy without going over the $1,000 threshold. But while this year is marked by rising technology prices and tariffs, you actually have a few options for saving on large, contrast-rich TVs that will make you never want to leave your living room again. Best Buy has two discounted models that I want to tell you about: the Samsung S84Fwhich now costs $949.99, and the LG B5which costs $50 more at $999.99.
Samsung’s S84F is a Best Buy-exclusive version of the S85F, which currently costs $200 more. This model removes the QD-OLED technology which brightens the image and improves colors, but the presence of an OLED panel still makes it a considerable value. It has four HDMI 2.1 ports and a 120Hz refresh rate display.
LG’s B5 is a more affordable alternative to the high-end C5, although it has many of the same great features. It has four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K at 120Hz (compared to the C5’s 144Hz) and support for Dolby Vision. The biggest differences between the two models appear to be brightness, for both SDR and HDR content, as well as processing and scaling, according to the review site. RTINGS. The C5’s extra brightness makes it better for well-lit rooms, and it’s also capable of leveling content better. However, the two sets are mostly on par when it comes to most other points of comparison, making the B5 a fantastic value if you want to stay under $1,000. (On the other hand, if you have twice as much to spend, you should read up on all the ways LG’s G5 impressed us.)
