The Only Person Mamdani Wants Locked Up Is Benjamin Netanyahu – RedState

Come on, New York. You’re kidding this guy. It is not enough that Zohran Mamdani is an avowed socialist (read: communist). It’s not enough for him to pretend he wants to impose taxes on the few remaining prosperous New Yorkers, some of whom he doesn’t have the power to tax. In fact, it’s not enough that he doesn’t seem to understand that his powers as mayor would be limited. It’s not enough that he has a long list of wacky communist ideas, like public grocery stores, where customers can relive the glory years of the Soviet Union by queuing for two hours for a few kilos of potatoes, and rejoice at the announcement that the weekly ration of chocolate has been increased from 30 grams to 20 grams. (Yes, you read that right.)
Any of these should be enough to get a sane electorate to warm up the tar and break out feather bags. But wait! There’s more! Communist Mamdani doubles down on his claim that he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if the man ever came to New York.
Democratic candidate for New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani is renewing his promise that he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he came to the city.
“It is important that New York City complies with international criminal law,” Mamdani said in an interview with The New York Times.
Mamdani could just as easily declare that New York City also complies with Isaac Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics, but that gives him no power to enforce them. Even some of Mamdani’s democratic colleagues have noticed this and are calling on him.
Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., pushed back on Mamdani’s comments, saying New York City did not have jurisdiction to do so.
He told the newspaper that Mamdani’s proposal was “simply unrealistic.”
Mamdani said in an interview with Mehdi Hasan last year that he would arrest Netanyahu if he came to New York.
“As mayor, New York City would stop Benjamin Netanyahu,” Mamdani told the MSNBC host. “This is a city where our values are consistent with international law. It is time for our actions to be as well.”
Mr. Mamdani – assuming New York voters are crazy enough to elect you, which unfortunately seems likely – there is only one problem with your assertion:
You can’t do it.

On the one hand, Prime Minister Netanyahu enjoys diplomatic immunity in the United States, in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. He cannot be arrested, whatever the International Criminal Court (ICC), of which the United States is not a member, thinks. If you try to have him arrested, you would be giving your police officers, assuming they remain in New York after your election, an illegal order.
On the other hand, even if the United States were still a signatory to the ICC, and even if Prime Minister Netanyahu was no longer in office and no longer traveling to the United States as a private citizen, such an arrest would almost certainly be the responsibility of the FBI or US Marshals, not New York City.
Zohran Mamdani opens his mouth, once again, without bothering to put that pink think-goo between his ears. It’s his habit modus operandi, after all.
And this guy will probably be the next mayor of New York. What a revolting development.
