HBO Max has released the first 90 seconds of Season 2, which returns viewers to the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Like in Season 1, every episode represents one hour in a 15-hour shift. This time, though, the shift takes place on July 4, so you can bet you’ll see grill burns, firework accidents, and more making their way through the Pitt’s doors.

None of that chaos is on display in The Pitt Season 2’s opening scene, though. Instead, these 90 seconds showcase Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch’s (Noah Wyle) commute to work. It’s a beautiful sunny morning as he rides his motorcycle across Pittsburgh’s bridges, and — wait a second, sorry, Dr. Robby, who works in an emergency department, is riding a motorcycle? Without a helmet? Has this man not seen enough motorcycle and bike accidents to know this is a bad idea? What in the midlife crisis is this?

It’s not long before The Pitt says goodbye to those sunny summer skies, though, because once Dr. Robby checks in, he and his staff are locked in on whatever July 4 will throw their way. Still, with Dr. Robby’s apparent destructive streak shining through, I’m not just worried about the incoming patients. I’m also worried whatever’s going on with him.

The Pitt Season 2 premieres Jan. 8 on HBO Max.
